The founder of award-winning creative content agency Tribera, Fran Nolan, isn’t waiting for the industry to catch up to its promises of gender equality - she’s taking action with a brand-new initiative in Birmingham.

This month marks the launch of ‘BRUMWIM’ (Birmingham Women in Marketing), a bold, unapologetic initiative created to unite, empower, and amplify the voices of female directors, leaders, and marketing professionals across the Midlands and beyond.
Born out of frustration with the lack of real support for women outside the hubs of London and Manchester, BRUMWIM is a rallying cry for change.

Wiith the BRUMWIM initiative, Fran is creating the community she and countless other women have desired for years - a place to belong, to thrive, and to reclaim power in an industry that often sidelines women.

Founder, Fran Nolan, comments on BRUMWIM’s mission:
“At Tribera, we’re beyond proud to be driving this movement in the Midlands. BRUMWIM isn’t just a community; it’s a force. It’s about giving women in marketing the platform they deserve to demonstrate their strengths - right here in Birmingham. We’re setting out to build bridges, shatter ceilings, and pave the way for the next generation of fierce, unstoppable female leaders.”

BRUMWIM is not here to ask for change politely. With three key objectives, it’s demanding it:

1.     Champion Gender Equality - Advocate for equal opportunities and representation for women across Birmingham’s industries.

2.     Promote Birmingham’s Marketing & Creative Industries - Elevate Birmingham’s creative sector by showcasing local talent, encouraging creative innovation, and driving visibility.

3.     Build Confidence - Empower women to overcome barriers such as access to the industry, the pay gap, career progression challenges, and the pressures of returning from maternity leave.

The first official BRUMWIM event hit the ground running with an intimate dinner at The Ivy, uniting 10 of Birmingham’s most influential female marketing leaders. Discussions zeroed in on the issues that can no longer be ignored: pay inequality, career progression roadblocks, balancing family life, and how to push the envelope in an industry still resistant to true change.

And this is just the beginning. With a series events launching in January 2025, BRUMWIM will host a series of hard-hitting events: confidence-boosting workshops, networking events, mentorship sessions, and more. Keynote speakers and panels will drive conversations aimed at real change, while an online platform will provide round-the-clock support for female marketers in need of resources, mentorship, and a community that has their back.
